A workshop about using mushroom keys for identification of fungal material will be
happening simultaneously with this foray. 

About the Area: The Big Creek Outdoor Education Center avoided being burned by
either the Moose Fire or the thousand-acre backburn set to protect it. These fires occurred
late in August and were extinguished by early September of 2001.  The area has been
salvage logged in areas, and we will be able to inspect both logged and unlogged areas
firsthand to assess morel viability in these treatment areas. Larry Evans has taught classes
here for almost 10 years and has species lists of fungi from around the BCOEC that total
in the hundreds.
