4a. Your mushroom
has a cap and stem, and a spongy covering of PORES under the cap. These fungi
usually have just one cap and one stem, not several branches. It is usually
fleshy, (not woody) and may have slime on the cap. It grows on the ground
and often there will be worms (fly larvae) in the base or cap. It may stain
a color when bruised. These fungi are often, but not always, found in association
with conifer trees.

4b. This really
doesn't sound like what I have. It has no stem, or many stems, and perhaps
the texture is leathery or woody.
